It’s a Trap – When History Repeats Itself

I’ve been off recovering from surgery, but I thought this post I made on Reddit recently was worth saving for posterity. More new information coming soon.

It’s quite the rush to escape Scientology. I know, I did. But that’s just the start. Once you get out, it’s a whole new world, and it’s easy to celebrate freedom before you realize the implications of it. Leaving is only the first baby step. After leaving a high control group like Scientology, there are a lot of steps between leaving and healing.

And there are some giant traps that are easy to fall into without even realizing you’ve fallen. By the time you are trapped, you are repeating the past. And it’s familiar, so it’s easy to do. And the trap leads you right back into the same situation you were in before.

I’m not saying I have it all figured out. But with so many people being so vocal on YouTube these days, some if the traps are becoming more and more obvious. It is hard to recognize that instead of actually escaping the trap, you’ve ended up weaponizing your own recovery.

You can’t heal someone who won’t take responsibility for the harm they are causing. Especially when they are speaking phrases like “I’m speaking my truth; “This is my healing journey, you can’t question my methods.”

Watching YouTubers continuing to repeat their “trauma” over and over is not a healing journey. They say it is a “trauma response” and that is why they are aggressive. Yet they will take no responsibility of their own to actually try to heal the trauma they claim they have. Because that would be counter-productive to keeping their channel running. They are taking what should be the language of liberation and using it as a shield to repeat harmful actions.

Someone using Scientology to defend their bad behavior over a decade after they have left is no longer addressing the right topic. They are hiding behind the cover of non-accountability they learned as a Scientologist to continue to behave badly.

And because they are so vocal, they are grouping those of us who are actually working to expose Scientology’s bad acts in with these bad actors. It’s time the bad actors were exposed for what they are doing rather than allow them to continue.
