Cancer Sucks

Mike Rinder and I have recorded a couple of podcasts together. We did the first one and it was such a hit, we did a second one. The second one was recorded the weekend before he started Chemo. This was for a cancer he had been battling for quite a while.

Today, it was announced on Tony Ortega’s blog that Mike has stepped down from the Board of Directors of the Aftermath Foundation. This hit me like a ton of bricks.

In this screenshot from his Instagram, you see him with his beautiful wife. They were headed out for a date night on September 7, 2024. This man and his wife have faced harassment for years. The reason is that they chose to speak out about Scientology abuses.

Cancer takes it out of you. Then along comes chemo and makes it worse. I consider this man my friend and I hurt for what he’s going through. If there’s a way to beat this, he and his wife will.

Mike has spent years exposing Scientology. Although he is best known for his show with Leah Remini, he was exposing it before that show and continued after. I am less than 75 days older than him. He has done so much. He deserves a rest. In the meantime, I’m going to cry, because my friend is hurting and there’s absolutely nothing I can do to fix it.
