According to Hubbard, a Ser Fac is a Service Facsimile. It is a mental image picture stuck in a person’s brain. They use this picture to control or make others wrong. As with most Scientology definitions, the definition is just as confusing as the word.

Hubbard basically said that a person puts on a face that is not theirs in order to exert control. This should not be confused with a valence. They do this to control the situation. They want to make themselves right, whether or not they are. When they do this, according to Hubbard, they do not know they are doing it.

As with everything else Scientology, this term has been conflated to mean anything a Scientologist wants it to at the moment. Even though Hubbard codified an entire tone scale, Scientologists are taught early on that they are not supposed to feel emotions. Hubbard created words to describe people feeling emotions.

That’s right. Hubbard taught his followers that emotions were just part of your brain doing bad things. Any child who is born into Scientology hears early on “quit being banky.” They are being told that their reactive mind (also known as the bank) has contol of their feelings. This happens if they get angry, sad, etc. in other words, a child born into Scientology has emotions programmed out if them at birth.

If you were looking for a Scientologists definition of Ser Fac, they would hesitate. Ser Fac is, in essence a grown up loud mouth banky kid. The reason it is so hard to define Ser Fac for a Scientologist is simple:
